This is the same type of thing that happens when demands for hallal meat in Britain are rationalized by the fact that there are places where Jews can get kosher food! Well so there! It also reminds me of the reportage on antisemitic attacks in Europe. You can't just mention an antisemitic attack. You have to bury the motive and identity of the assailants. Forget about their religion, origin and the fact that they were yelling something like Allahu Akbar. The reports are always something like this: A Rabbi was attacked by a keffiyeh-wearing gang of youths in southern France last night. The Rabbi, who suffered injuries to his whole body reported his assailants as screaming 'racial epithets' . Police believe the motive for the attack was criminal. Reports of Islamophobic attacks in Europe are up at least 584% this year. We can't say what it really means. Let's just stick our heads in the sand and hope that they will be nice to us when sharia takes over.

Annual Jew Hating, Israel Bashing Festival Begins

The monstrosity known as "Israel Apartheid Week" is once again coming to a university campus near you. I would actually defend the right of these people to speak on campus, and simply give them the (figurative) rope to hang themselves. We all know who attends this kind of event-the hard core antisemites. This beast cannot be put back into the bottle, and I think that the people who are opposed to this kind of blatant hatred on their campus have to outsmart and outwit these folks. What would I do? I would try to publicly expose the speakers publicly for their puffed-up and often bogus "credentials", and let their own words speak for themselves. Google is your friend. It also means reminding universities that they are beholden to their donors and that people can and indeed, should fight with their wallets. People can also protest if their union dues are being hijacked for political causes that they disagree with. These events can also serve to make connections between like-minded people, who can come up with their own inventive and uniquely personal ways to fight back the utter Jew-hatred in our midst. Ultimately, this is not a Jewish issue. The Jews and Israel are once again "just" the canary in the coal mine and universities campuses are really a microcosm of the direction in which general society is headed.

Then, moment number two was a colleague who actually wanted to have a serious discussion with me about a new project. It involves all kinds of esoteric philosophical crap and I almost fell asleep until I was jolted to reality by her use of the word "redistribution". RED ALERT RED ALERT! MARXIST IN THE MIDST. I think she used the term, with a straight face about four or five times. Sweetie, you lost me at redistribution of wealth. Someone down the hall also has an Obama picture on their door with "The One" on it. That's the kind of day it has been so far.

This is the story of heterosexual male firefighters who were forced, against their will to participate in a gay pride parade. "Deputy City Attorney Don Shanahan said the firefighters weren't satisfied after Chief Tracy Jarman apologized and promised to change the department's policy and use only volunteers in the parade. "The department bent over backwards," Shanahan told jurors. Attorneys for both sides were not immediately available for comment. (Thank the Lord for small miracles-Ed) Since when is being the subject of sexual harassment part of a fireman's...uh...fireperson's...firefighter's responsibilities anyway? It's gotta be voluntary, like those nifty calendars-not "voluntold".

I'm outraged. What this story proves is that it is Aboriginal people who place no value on their own children's lives. The "white man" would have thrown this pathetic excuse of a human in jail for a very long time, with many people rooting for prison justice. He still has one living child, and is therefore at risk to reoffend. The death penalty has a zero percent recidivism rate, but we unfortunately, do not have the death penalty in Canada.

Yelling "Fire" In A Crowded Theatre and Other Liberal Scare Tactics

Much has been said and written about Oliver Wendell Holmes Jr. He was a Harvard law scholar (hey-just like Obama) and was even a soldier in the war of 1861. In 1899, he was appointed chief justice of the Massachusetts Supreme Court.

But Holmes is also probably best known for his declarations on free speech and his statement that “the most stringent protection of free speech would not protect a man in falsely shouting fire in a theatre and causing a panic”. Liberals always trot out this quote to prove that there are good reasons for limiting free speech, and that the state must surely be employed to make sure crazy people don’t go yelling fire or ‘jihad’ in theatres or something like that.

Anyway, the great Mark Steyn addressed this issue yet again at the Ontario legislature earlier this month. At the post-testimony Steynette scrum, Mark reminded us about how his lawyer, Julian Porter, pointed out in his summation during the Maclean’s case that the operating word is ‘falsely’. If there is a fire burning and there is an imminent threat, one is actually obligated to yell fire and warn others. Accurate quotations from Holmes can be found in both The Mind and Faith of Justice Holmes, ed Max Lerner (Garden City, NY: Halcyon House, 1943) and several of Holmes’ Supreme Court decisions.

So, to make a long story longer, I started reading a fantastic book-the War Against the Weak: Eugenics and America’s Campaign to Create a Master Race, by Edwin Black. It’s really chilling stuff. I’m turning the pages at a furious rate, aghast at the history of the eugenics movement in America, when guess who pops up in the chapter called “The United States of Sterilization”? Right! Oliver Wendell Holmes Jr.

It seems like our friend Oliver was quite a nasty bastard and quite the proponent of eugenics. Under his watch, the “feebleminded” Carrie Buck was eugenically sterilized by the state after being raped. Here are the words that concluded his opinion on the eugenic sterilization of an American citizen (see Buck v. Bell 274 U.S 200, 1927 for verbatim transcription):

“It is better for all the world, if instead of waiting to execute degenerate off-spring, or to let them starve for their imbecility, society can prevent those who are manifestly unfit from continueing their kind. The principle that sustains compulsory vaccination is broad enough to cover cutting the Fallopian tubes. Three generations of imbeciles are enough.”

All this is to say that liberals should be more aware of who they are quoting in defense of restrictions on freedom of any sort-from freedom of speech and thought to reproductive freedom. They should consider the source of their fantasies on restriction any of our human freedoms. They should take a look in the mirror and make damn sure that they aren’t diabetic, epileptic, asthmatic, folicularly challenged (that's BALD in politically correct-speak) or 'feebleminded' (liberalism is after all a mental illness), because they would be on Dear Oliver’s hit list, too.

Anyone who uses the ever so tired ‘fire in a theatre’ quote better damn well know who it came from, and what he stood for because it ain’t pretty. Not only is the quote misused, but there is needs to be far more discussion on the totalitarian beast behind the quote that liberals try to use to scare free-speechers. Your thoughts and freedom of speech are clearly, only the beginning.

BBC In Court to Hide Report on Anti-Israel Bias

Nice to see the BBC squirming. The most incidious thing about public broadcasters like the BBC and the CBC is the fact that they use taxpayers money to broadcast their anti-Israel, anti-American and generally anti-Western propaganda. It's pretty hard to come up with words that express my hatred for this man. He's not only a rabid Jew-hater, but I would argue the worst American president ever. He is a disgrace to the office of the President. This guy never met a terrorist he didn't like. His woeful performance in Iran in 1979 really set the stage for the problems we are facing around the world now. The only good thing about him is that his epic fail laid the groundwork for Reagan.

The Real Racists.

I started this blog to talk about some of the things I can't talk about at work. So, here's one of them. Racism. A colleague of mine was just 're-organized'. Now, never mind how 1984 that sounds, I'll relay to you a conversation that I had with her just after this happened. Her supervisor, a cold witch of a woman, was talking to this woman about her young son and the preschool she was planning to send him to. She told my (now former) colleague how it was important to get into the right preschool and that education is very important in my family. I told "K", that it sounded to me like what she was saying was that education is very important in my white family, but you are black, so obviously, education is not very important to you. "K" said to me-you said it, not me. I'm glad I said it, because I think that's really what the supervisor meant. She has other minority women in her department and treats them like complete crap. The thing is, the supervisor considers herself a beacon of progressive thinking, supports gay marriage and all the 'correct' causes. But when it comes down to it, how enlightened is she really? The point of this post is to ask if any of you have had experiences of what I would characterize as 'inverse' racism? What I mean is, have you witnessed or been subject to truly racist sentiments by the people who are supposed to be the most liberal and enlightened of us all? Another colleague once joked to me that she is concerned about her parents taking her young son out on outings because her father has bad vision and her mother has a physical disability. She said 'we joke that it's the blind leading the disabled'. I almost lost my breath. This woman is a militant lesbian who took a lot of pleasure in trying to shock me with a reveal of her sexual orientation-she didn't get the shock she was looking for, but that's a whole other story. Hypocrites really make me sick.

So, I was one of the free speech groupie "butt plugs" who went to hear Mark Steyn at the Ontario Legislature. There has already been excellent and thorough coverage of the presentation by some of Canada's most fantastic bloggers-and a round up can be found at SteynOnLine. So, I would just like to add a few modest observations about the afternoon and the after-party. I really hope that the panelists digested Mark's observation that Ontario is promoting a system of judgement where the verdict is both assumed to be guilty always, and simultaneously irrelevant. As he rightly pointed out, the entire process is the punishment. In addition to the totalitarian ability to silence people's free thoughts-one of the only naturally G-d given rights we have, the process can crush innocent people financially and spiritualy. Everything goes back to individual rights, individual property rights and the power of freedom which is vested in our individual thoughts. Group rights must never trump this right. Mark emphatically stated that if you don't believe in free speech for the people you loathe, then you don't really believe in free speech at all. It's that simple. He suggested that if "Kommisar Hall" wants to persecute people for their beliefs, she should do it on her own dime. That uppity Steyn also had the nerve to suggest that the burden of proof be on the accuser! He questioned the integrity of the OHRC, noting that for people supposedly interested in "hate speech" and hurt speech, they didn't seem particularly interested when a raging, frothing crowd of keffiyeh-wearing Muslims called for a new and improved genocide against Jews in downtown Toronto. That had to hurt. Where was the OHRC when a man, of no particular race, religion or creed, was calling for the beheading of a Canadian government official? Crickets... One of the funniest parts of Mark's presentation was the way in which he continually refered to Barbara Hall as "Komissar Hall". I don't even think the pannelists actually caught the reference, they didn't flinch actually, but it was really hilarious. I am delighted that it will be transcribed as such in the official record. Afterwards, Mark hung around and answered some reporters questions. Then, he graciously agreed to go out for a drink with the groupies, and we walked to a nearby pub on an unusually mild and sunny February day. He was entertaining and inquisitive, and knew something pretty much about all the people in attendance, from having either read their blogs or their letters to the editor or perhaps letters to him. The conversation easily switched from the demographic time-bomb in Europe, to the perils of shaving goat butts, to the potential popularity of said shaved goats in the Middle East, to the dangers facing the Jews of England and France, the humourless militants lesbian activists we work with to Maclean's and back. He listened to our stories, shared his own insights with us as equals and even insisted on picking up the tab. Mark Steyn is intelligent, hilarious and gracious-a jack of all media trades with a clear handle on the big picture and a solid moral centre. The Jews in particular, and the Western world in general, are lucky to have such a giant on our side. This issue brought together a pretty crazy mix of people...the Indian Canadian, the Jew, the Catholics-the homo and heterosexual fans of Steyn-all because despite our backgrounds-we understand what is at stake. So thanks again Mark, for a really fantastic afternoon and keep up the good fight always.

Canadian Woman And Children Trapped in Saudi Arabia

OK. I have to say that I am very split on this issue. On the one hand, I think if you are stupid enough to voluntary marry someone from Saudi Arabia, go there to live and then have children there-then maybe you deserve your fate. People like this probably do more research about what cell phone company to sign with then the culture and religion of their potential husband. On the other hand, she could have been wined and dined (well-no wine, but you know what I mean) and smooth talked into a romance. Certainly, the kids are not to blame. Did these people just suddenly discover what Saudi Arabia is all about? What sharia is all about? Domestic Bliss

Posting was not possible this weekend because of family responsibilities. Tomorrow is a new day, with plenty of breathtakingly obnoxious stuff to post. More outrage at work! Outrageous! More liberal heads to explode. I like to make liberals a little uncomfortable. Especially at dinner parties when I am outnumbered, and family events. It really doesn't take much to make them squirm. A little "Go Palin", a little "Obama is a zero", a dash of "Bush is a great man", and voila! Seethe, fret, grrrrr.... One time I was at a family function, and a dear relative was telling me how he had been in Africa, travelling and how the kids-the CHILDREN, were running up to him for a few coins, for a stalk of corn-anything. How we in the West take so much for granted, and they have so little, boo hoo. I listened for a few minutes and then said "gee 'H', that is so very moving-especially coming after your second trip to the sweet table. What is with this poverty tourism crap? I think it's pretty sick to take tours of the most impoverished places on earth. But, maybe that's just me. More tomorrow.
