I'll be off-line for the Jewish holiday of Shavuot ("Weeks") which begins at sundown tonight.It's not as well known as Chanukah and Passover, but it's still an important holiday. During Shavuot, we celebrate the giving of the Torah to the Jewish people. We read the Book of Ruth and eat dairy foods. If you would like to read more about Shavuot, there is lots of great information here.This year, the holiday starts on Thursday evening, with the second day of the holiday blending seamlessly into the Jewish Sabbath.Ruth, a convert to Judaism is famous for standing by her new, adopted people-your people will be my people. As far as Toronto's current administration goes, there is absolutely NOTHING that can't be over-regulated. Everything needs to be forced down our throats, from the toilets we flush to the food we may purchase. They ban water bottles, guns (instead of crime and illegal, drug-dealing immigrants of course). Maybe all the people of the city who would like better edible offerings on our streets should just camp out "peacefully" on the streets of Toronto, a la Tiger Tamils. Let Me Tell You About My Evening
Last night, driving home I spoke to a friend whose husband-out of the blue-had a stroke. He's alive and fully aware, but there are some serious issues-partial paralysis and some other dreadful things. He is a non-smoker, was fit, not overweight and had no family history. On the same conversation, she told me that her father is at a different hospital dying from kidney cancer.
I walked in the door and the fish for the dinner I had planned hadn't defrosted, so I scrambled to put something together based on last night's leftovers.About 20 minutes into dinner I get a call from a parent of one of my kid's friends. We have to organize rides to and from an event. This Momzilla keeps me on the phone for almost 15 minutes telling me about the history of the carpools, the politics of the carpools, and about her car having 7 seats but your car only has 5 seats, blah blah blah.

Good News: Antisemitic Play to Be Staged in Montreal
So, an antisemitic play is going to make its Canadian premiere in Montreal. I think Montreal is a great place for it. There is a substanial Lebanese, Hizballah-loving crowd in that lovely city and Montreal has also been very European about its immigration policy (read: Muslim).
Anyway, I can't get too excited about this play and its disgusting Jews-are the new Nazis content. It's just another tired, fruitless way of trying to stick it to the Jews and Israel.If some sloppy, trite, play is the best weapon these Jew-haters have at their disposal, I say we're winning the battle. Israel just celebrated its 61st year, and its not going away. It drives the Jew-haters crazy that we refuse, individually or collectively to just die already. So let them fester in their swill, whether theatre, politics, NGO or the UN.
We're here, we're Jews and we have no plans for mass suicide to please you. Jew-haters of the world: you'll just have to learn to live with that.

Book Review: Lights Outs-Islam, Free Speech and the Twilight of the West by Mark Steyn
So I just finished reading Mark Steyn’s Lights Out: Islam, Free Speech and the Twilight of the West. Reading anything by Steyn is the second most fun you can have by yourself. This book is essential reading for the Islamophobic, hatemongering Westerner among us-but more importantly for those who think otherwise. If you have even the slightest concern about free speech, the sharia creep into our society and the West’s increasingly stealth suicide march off a caliphate cliff, you need to read this book.

-Christian culturecide is a terrible thing to witness, and as Steyn notes, few in the West seem to be bothered or even aware that they are experiencing it in real time.My favourite essay in the collection is The Bombay Massacres: Who’s vulnerable? It’s simply a masterpiece and shows that while the leftist-jihadist collective can fool much of the world with its propaganda, there are righteous and courageous individuals like Mark Steyn who call it like it is. In my second favourite essay, Gaza West, he aptly describes the Palestinian “culture” (and “Islamist” culture by extension) as one that’s chief success is “marinating their infants in a sick death cult in which martyrdom in the course of Jew-killing is the greatest goal to which a citizen can aspire”. Have you ever heard it put better than that?
There are those who have given their lives protecting our freedom (a number of striking examples are given in the book), and Steyn says that the least he can do is stand up to the bullying and Jew-hating creeps such as Mohammad Elmasry and the various monstrosities known as Ontario and Canadian Human Rights Commissions. He rightly notes that currently, “Jew-hating isn’t the problem, only certain types of Jew-haters…The Fuhrer isn’t coming out of retirement and, even if he does, there aren’t enough Jews left in Europe to man a decent genocide". Then he spells it out: what other than Hitler is our society prepared to make a moral judgement over? “Where,” he asks, “is our ideological offensive”. Good question.
There are lots of laughs and insights and the usual, predictable collection of fantastic turns of phrase that only Steyn could invent. I wonder if he ever sits in his own living room, in all his hateful glory, rubbing his hands together saying: damn-that was funny. But, I digress.....The main message is that this battle is about left and right, it’s about “free/not free” and is a call to action. We all need to do something, and that’s why I’m in the ring, too. I have to be able to look my kids in the eye when they ask me: Mommy-you knew what was happening, so what did you do about it?

The rape scene shows a Philistine religious priest dressed up as a religious Jew while raping Delilah, who was Samson's lover. The rapist was the only man in the show wearing a skull cap. The Flanders Opera could not be reached for a comment
Another image from the show showed occupying soldiers clad in black combat suits and armed with M-16 assault rifles stroking the weapons while placing them horizontally against their crotches.
