Getting the Burkha Ban Totally Wrong
I was just reading this piece by Paul Berton in the London Free Press, and I have to say-he totally misses the point.
He is posing as a freedom loving person, saying that the reason women should be "allowed" to wear body bags is because we can't have government telling us what to wear.
This is a ridiculous line of argument. There are plenty of laws, or I guess they are by-laws that determine what we can wear. It's illegal to walk around butt naked-in case he hasn't noticed.
The main point of the burkha ban is that women in these situations do not get a choice. Women, right here in Canada and in other parts of the civilized, Western world have been murdered by their own family members for "choosing" not to cover themselves.
And that is why it's particularly infuriating to see Mr. Berton make the full blown, moral equivalency argument in his quest to keep Muslim women covered up from head to toe, in one of the most demoralizing, and dehumanizing costumes ever worn by human beings in history.
"Telling women what they must not wear is just as bad as telling them what they must wear. It is replacing one form of control with another. Both are unacceptable."

OK-I was gonna just take some quotes from this fantastic article, but you HAVE TO READ THE WHOLE THING.
I agree with this guy. There is no Jewish leadership on Islamic psychopathic, murderous, nutcase antisemitism. Just nothing.
Our "leaders" are busy winning the last war against Nazism, turning a blind eye to the real, live Nazis in our midst.

The Deadly Price of Pursuing "Peace"
OK, the scare quotes on "Peace" are mine, but you get the point.
This is an excellent article by Evelyn Gordon in Commentary Magazine.
It's basically a summary of how Israel's entire negotiating position went down the toilet, starting with the Oslo accords-when it ceded its own right to its own territory. Thus began the impossible task of justifying its own existence. Thus began the insane process of "negotiating" a settlement with the same people who are sworn to your own destruction.
The article is not really depressing, it's just a good history and shows that many people, and many Israelis in particular, are well aware of the challenges ahead.
It is factual and calm and very good read. It even ends on a positive note, a bit of inspiration for those of us who still have the fight in us-and believe that we, in the West, will eventually triumph and be victorious in the current World War.

Random Bed Time Thoughts
I'm a history chick-I love reading non-fiction. I have no time for fiction any more.
I am reading Natan Sharansky's new book about identity and freedom and it is excellent. Sharansky gets it-he is inspiring. There are so many uplifting items, and so many phrases I want to remember. I would highly recommend it.
If you have never read "Fear No Evil", you simply must. It's one of my favourites.
Also on my bookshelf is "Conversations With Stalin", another critical piece of history.
Lastly, some advice from my beautiful child.
After dinner one night, we decided to be ambitious and bake cookies. After all the kids helped assemble the dough, one took the obligatory taste test of the dough, smiled and said "if you're ever in a bad mood, make cookie dough".
It was really the best end to a stressful day. I'm going to remember that moment always. Such sage advice from such a young soul.

One thing I do see in this report is a bit of sensitive deference to political correctness-imagine that...the new regulations and procedures will not only protect people from jihad-but protect American Muslims in the army from suspicion.

This is really creepy stuff. First of all, Islam is not a race-as far as I know, people from all different backgrounds and colours (ie: "races") are welcome into the fold as 'reverts'. So calling this 'racism' is just preposterous, and another example of how language has been corrupted by the Left to serve in a totalitarian fashion-as a tool to prosecute people for their thoughts, and not actually for their actions.
But read the actual charges:
"The indictment charges Wilders with insulting Muslims by describing Islam as a fascist religion and calling for the banning of the Koran, which he likens to Adolf Hitler's Mein Kampf"
He is also accused of inciting hatred and discrimination for stating Moroccan youths were violent, calling for the Koran to be banned and for Dutch borders to be closed to all "non-western immigrants", as well as for advocating an end to what he terms "the Islamic invasion".
Wilders, 46, faces up to one year in jail if convicted.
I thought Europe consisted of democracies?
Read it again-there are criminal charges pending against a politician-a public figure (although certainly private citizens are not exempt from these trumped up Orwellian charges) for the following:
-'insulting' something/someone
-calling for a ban on something
-allegedly 'discriminating' against something by stating an opinion and by wanting to ban a book and have tighter border controls
These charges are absolutely terrifying.
Nobody in North America should ignore this story. Even if you don't agree with Wilders-you have to realize that the speech being censored next could be yours. You could face jail time too, just for having an opinion about something.

Is There Nothing Obama Can't Do?
According to Thomas Friedman, if only Obama would publicly denounce Islamic terrorists-it would really, but really, really, REALLY shame them into "better", "more civilized" (ie: nice or something) behaviour.
That's it-just get Obama to say 'hey, you lone individual extremists-you should just not be doing that stuff, OK and pretty please".
The problem with liberals like Thomas Friedman is that they think they get Islam. But because they are people of no faith, other than the Church of Liberalism, they really cannot get into the mindset of jihad.
He says in the article that "father knows best"-after all, it was the Scrotum Bomber's own father who tipped the system to his son's radical nature.
And herein lies the problem. This Dad is an exception. The large majority of the Muslim world is in the mindset of the bomber-not the exceptional Dad.
We hear no widespread condemnation from the "silent majority" of allegedly peaceful Muslims...why?
Because perhaps-they are really not interested in condemning these actions. Yes, the brave individuals who do take a stand put themselves at tremendous risk and I salute them. But we have yet to see the groundswell of rejection by Muslims of the tenets of their faith that clearly instruct them to kill infidels.
This kind of religious reformation can only come from within.
Memo to Thomas Friedman: not even Obama can shame Muslims into rejecting these articles of faith.
The other problem is that Friedman approaches "shame" through Western eyes.
The Muslim world, and indeed, much of South Asia, too-has a very different concept about what constitutes personal, or communal "shame". For them, shame and honour have to do with control of women and their sexuality and the firm continuum of patriarchal family structure.
Liberals now are struggling with the obvious issue of male, Muslim jihadists being the issue preventing safe, convenient airline travel.
They know it in their hearts, and they skirt around the issue-that militant Islamic jihadi orthodoxy is simply not compatible with airline travel or frankly, with democratic society.

This is really a disgrace.
In the UK, in order to save costs, elderly patients are being forced to have g-tubes (feeding tubes, through their stomachs) even if they are perfectly capable of eating, in order to save costs.
Let me tell you something, g-tube feedings are NOT FUN. They are life savers-my son has one because of his disabilities, but to do this kind of invasive procedure on a perfectly healthy person is disgusting.
The bean counters who think this is such a great idea should be FORCED to have tube feeding formula for an entire week, through an NG-Nasal Gastric tube up their noses and down their throats to their stomachs-and see how they like tube feeding formula.

It would seem like such a sensible idea.
I actually think that there has to be a concerted effort to re-brand the entire vocabulary of air traffic safety. There really is no such thing as "racial" profiling-Islam is not a race. It has members who are from many different national backgrounds, and who have many different skin colours, eye colours, etc..
Similarly, being a bit wary of Islamic head-choppers and suicide bombers does not make one "racist". It is quite legitimate to be a little Allahphobic or Mohammadphobic nowadays, given the propensity of fanatic Muslims to engage in such activities as, ahem, terrorism.
The people who control the language control the debate.
Civilized Westerners are losing the language battle once again, because the terms of reference are being established and promoted by the Left and its unholy alliance with the emerging Caliphate.
We should not use the term "racial profiling". Even the word "profiling" gets everyone's nose bent out of shape. The only term we need is anti-terror, or air-safety measures. Nobody has a right to travel on an airline, and nobody has a right to kill people using an airline as a weapon (I know-I'm such a radical).
When will the citizenry reject the diktats to arrive 3 hours early for a transatlantic flight when it's really a limited number of people, from a limited religious orientation, that need to be more closely scrutinized before they get anywhere near an airport?
Why are we willing to 'suck up' a few events here and there? Why aren't we taking a lesson from Israel on at least this particular issue? Are we so brainwashed-is the rot so deep-that we have accepted the odds that we, or our loved ones are legitimate collateral damage as blood sacrifices to Allah via airline jihad?
In a recent clip aired on Hot Air, Israeli security officials spoke of 'thinking like the terrorists'. What a concept-it essentially means shoe bombing? Been there, done that, we really can safely keep our shoes on now. The stunts that have been pulled will not be repeated. However, there is no device, no tool, no living thing, no piece of equipment or inanimate object that will not be utilized by the Islamic barbarian terrorists as an instrument of death. It's hard for our precious, sensitized, morally relative minds to comprehend this fact-but it is a fact.
Why can't we, as citizens, insist that the best minds be harnessed by our security forces to think like terrorists-just like the Israelis are doing so successfully?
Does any Western leader, or any Western security force, with the exception of Israel, actually have the stones to take this one on?

The march is meant to be a tribute not to the soldiers, but to the Muslims who have died at kufar hands in the name of "democracy".
I think the whole point is to incite a riot.
I know I post all the time that the UK is screwed, but this article, to me, demonstrates the level to which we have sunk. The "Islamists" (did we ever say "Nazists??") laugh in our faces as they plan the most outrageous insults to our culture and our way of life. They know we don't have the stones to push back or push them out.
The more we tolerate their base abuse of our society, the closer we get to their dream of implementing sharia in our glorious democracies.
