The Left's Unbearable Darkness of Being
Please take some time to read this.
I find that the joy and true humour are absolutely, and almost without exception, on the right side of the political spectrum nowadays.
When I get together for lunch with my crew of local members of the ZOG and the VRWC, we laugh almost until our sides split.
We talk about books (remember, conservatives actually buy and read books), politics and the laughs are non-spot.
People who are conservatives have an appreciation for life, an appreciation of individual dignities and liberties and generally, a sense of joy that is completely absent on the left.
Most of the lefty women I know are morose. Most of the lefty men I know are squishy metrosexuals who have manicured nails and drive powder blue cars.
They seem not to laugh as much, they seem more disdainful of the disabled, they laugh at religious belief (unless it's Islamic-that is revered and "quaint") and thing Americans are dummies.
This piece puts into words what I think many of us on the right have experience first-hand in our dealings with leftists/statists/socialist-Marxists.
The mark of a good essay in my opinion in finding myself unable to put it down-whether I agree or disagree with the content. It should have a flow and leave me with something that I will always remember.

The Battle for Educational Inclusion in Britain
This was an interesting read.
My own opinion about inclusion is that it always has to benefit the disabled person.
It really makes me sick when people or institutions brag about their inclusion programs, when really-it is just something that they do to make themselves feel good.
The more higher functioning cognitively the disabled person is-the more inclusion opportunities they will have.
That doesn't mean that more severely disabled people should not be 'included', but I think parents and family members always have to be realistic about the extent to which that is feasible-and how much the disabled person is getting out of it.

More Blah Blah About the "Religion" of the Peace Process
I agree with some points made by the author.
There are cults of Palestinianism as identified by Bat Ye'or and this author suggests a religion of the Peace Process.
But, basically, he missed the entire point of the conflict.
There is no "Israeli-Arab" conflict, just as there is no "Israeli-Palestinian" conflict (or "Israel-Palestine" conflict as the Jew-haters are more prone to label it).
There is only an Islam-Infidel problem for Islam. The problems that the Muslims have with Israel are that it exists-and that the uppity Jews just will not go back to being dhimmis. We've been there and done that-it sucked and now we can say 'screw you'.
That really bothers them.
As I often note-the Middle East conflict is not a real estate problem, but that's how lefties want you to frame it.
It is 100% religious in its origins, and because of that, there is no 'solution' to the problem, short of a reformation in Islam so dramatic that it would change the nature of how Islam and Muslims understand themselves and their relationship with other faiths. And frankly, I don't see that happening.
Therefore, the best situations that we can hope for-and encourage other people to support are 1) containment and 2) separation. What I mean is containing existing security threats by all means necessary and 2) keeping Palestinians and Israelis lives as separate as possible unless good relations (economic, security) are mutually possible and beneficial in any given geographical area of Israel.
The 'peace process' is a religion for many-but it really boils down to being a very acceptable form of Jew-hatred in a post-Holocaust world.

My good friend and partner in hate, Kathy Shaidle, has pointed out that the Southern Poverty Law Center is always freaking out and scared about something-always running around squawking about this that or the other looming disaster like chickens with their heads cut off.
Kathy's post is devastating, but I'd just like to add a few points.
The first is that for leftists/Marxists it's all about controlling your life. The alleged 'threat' has precious little to do with reality, it's actually just the excuse to legislate your life in microscopic ways. The left wishes to control what you say, what you think, what you eat and how you raise your children.
The Very Scary Disasters looming on the horizon, as predicted by unhinged leftists never seem to actualize.
Not that reality matters to these people at all. They continue with their preposterous predictions, trying to squeeze your freedoms away from you in almost imperceptible little steps.
Do you all remember the Acid Rain scare? And how about the hole in the ozone? Is there still a hole? Does anyone care? Did everyone throw away their aerosol sprays for nothing?
My favourite is the crack babies (of which there were none-a bunch of creepy researchers just wanted to get funding). Actually another big lefty whopper was the danger of America doomed to fail! Doooooooomed I tells ya, for attacking the Taliban because of the Brutal Afghan Winter. That was a classic.
The moral of the story is that the more a lefty shrieks about something, sputtering and spittling-the less worried about it you should become.
Wish I had a dollar for every time I put a lefty into a spastic meltdown because of my refusal to go along with the narrative, or bow to their wish to control my life.

I asked for a size 10 and the salesperson started ranting about how I was a size 6.
I said lady-give me the size 10, which she did-and it was swimming on me.
I was so angry about this that I walked out of the store. I don't care really what the number is on the tag. I care that the garment fits me properly.
Why can't ladies wear be measured like menswear-in actual inches?
I hate having to know my size at every different store that I go to.

My cabbie was an Arab, and in between his Arabic conversations with who the heck knows, he was pointing out the local scenery. It didn't seem to matter to him that I had told him I've been here before, he was having such fun-I couldn't stop him.

The Working Mom
My blog, my choice of palette cleansers.
Let me tell you about my evening.
I rushed from work to the pediatrician's office to get a slew of forms signed for the special needs kid.
One form actually required a physical examination, so I have to go back again next week.
I wanted the doc to consider a condition that I think my kid has, but I got The Face.
Do you know The Face? It's when doctor's give you that split second look that says 'hey, lady-don't get too uppity with me'.
The doctor, who I really like, said-no it's not that-you know that's very rare.
So I just played dumb, but I was thinking to myself-yes, it is very rare unless it fucking happens to you or your kid.
However, I did get the referral I needed to the specialist, and I'll let the specialist decide. The doctor didn't even bother to look at the medical journal articles I had pulled. From "peer reviewed" medical journals.
I got home to relieve the husband and started to make supper.
I tried to go to the bathroom by myself but special needs kid decided to join me in the bathroom, which I forgot to lock.
He wanted a hug. Husband had to go out, so I was then flying solo. About five minutes after he left, one kid starts looking green, and begins almost chanting 'mommy my tummy hurts, mommy my tummy hurts'.
Do you know what a nanosecond is? That's the amount of time between 'mommy my tummy hurts' and vomit all over the kitchen floor.
So another kid tries to stay cool keeping another kid occupied and we all try not to vomit while I clean up either yesterday's matzah or today's pizza-who the hell could tell.
I got the little ones cleaned up in a nice bath, but then the littlest again looked kind of green and weak and was sort of freaking me out.
I cuddled with him until he fell asleep-before he fell asleep he said 'thank you mommy', and I said you don't need to say thank you-I'm here to take care of you-that's my job.
He fell into a deep sleep and I went to wet a towel and tried to get some of the vomit stains of my pants that I hadn't noticed before.
No-there is never a dull moment.
And I wouldn't have it any other way.

"I think that ruling sets a really unreasonably high limit on hate speech. Really, it's about the kind of communities we want to live in and the poisoning of the public discourse, especially in regard to vulnerable groups who already experience a high degree of hatred and discrimination," Lund said.

A Gay Activist Who Gets Free Speech
This is a refreshing approach.
It goes to show that there are a lot of people who really do 'get it' when it comes to free speech.
Free speech is about having to hear-not agree-with the people whose ideas you find insulting, repugnant and offensive.
Any kind of artificial "shelter" from free speech is an intrusion on personal freedom.
Where free speech ventures into actual threats-the law takes over.
Where free speech creeps toward libel or slander, there are provisions in the law.
The entire "free speech" debate has evolved into a crusade to have difference of opinions criminalized in supposedly civilized nations.
Some of us know where those enlightened paths led us throughout history.
It simply should not be impossible to have a political, or religious disagreement in a "civilized" Western country without fear of political persecution and financial ruin.
