A Mother's Love
Last night the kids went to bed relatively early. But by midnight I had one in my bed and then at 2:30 a.m another one came in to tell me that another one had puked.
I stayed with the puking one, got the fever down but couldn't go to sleep, worried that he had picked up a bug and feeling like he would throw up again and I wanted him to get to the bathroom in time.
Sure enough at about 4:00 or so, it happened again, but then he settled into a good sleep. I was still wired, thinking about how I would get up in the morning.
I guess I finally fell asleep at about 5:00 which is about half an hour before I usually get up.
But instead of the alarm, I was woken by the sound of my special needs kid downstairs, having already grabbed the husband's iPhone and listening to his favourite music at full volume. The husband didn't hear the alarm clock.
The morning was a bit more rushed than usual, but somehow everyone got off to their work and school, with all their supplies and in clean clothes.
By the time I got on the subway, I started to relax.
Being a parent is hard work. Imagining your child's future without you is the hardest thing ever.

WTF is going with Charles Krauthammer?
I admit to not understanding all the nuances of American politics. But what is everyone quoting the dead William Buckley for? Who cares about his rule? The American people are rejecting the notion that they have to vote for anyone, they want to chose the people that they feel will best represent them.
It seems to me like a lot of Republicans are getting completely bent out of shape because the people are speaking. A lot of Americans want a truly conservative person to vote for. They don't like wishy washy conservatives in name only who just want to hang out at the popular table with the liberals.
Did the Republican party not get the memo about John McCain losing the last election for them? Guess what-it wasn't because of Sarah Palin. Seems to me like every candidate Sarah Palin touches nowadays goes golden.
Karl Rove and Krauthammer should really just have a nice, steaming cup of STFU about who is a G-d given candidate. Do they have crystal balls or something, and if so-where do I get one?
I usually don't rant like this, and certainly not about Krauthammer, who I really respect but it seems like a lot of sour grapes are out there nowadays claiming to be doing for the good of the country, but are really only looking out for their own squishy brand of Republican cronyism.
The people who will get voted in are actual ideological opponents of the disgusting Obama administration. And it seems that Americans are smart enough to identify those individuals on their own-and don't need RINOs, with their patronizing and borderline misogynistic ramblings to tell them who they ought to be voting for.

Ground Zero Mosque Seems Increasingly Unlikely
This is pretty much what I have been saying to friends who are infuriated.
They don't have all the necessary land, or the money. Construction workers are threatening not to build it. A large majority of New Yorkers and Americans in general are against it.
I'm starting to wonder if this wasn't just a profile-raising exercise for the gentle Imam and his wife, and/or a psychological terrorism dry run.
Maybe, just as terrorist attacks are planned and tested with a dry run, the jihadists of the word decided that they would send out a trial balloon to test American resolve nine years later.
What is the most offensive and provocative thing that the terrorists and their enablers could cook up? Cartoon rage would not really fly in America-but there had to be something. Festive Eid celebrations coinciding with the 9/11 anniversary were discouraged.
The more I think about it, the more I think it actually could be a psych-operation, part in parcel of the psychological warfare and terror that they wage against us.
If you don't have all the funding or the land, and you know that there is going to be some pretty raging opposition to building a mosque at Ground Zero, and that right-thinking people all over the world will be even more enraged if you announce your plans around the 9/11 anniversary-why go through with the exercise.

Nine Years Later, A Bunch of Trees
I love America, but even I am dismayed by the lack of progress at Ground Zero. There should have been towers built long ago to fill the holes.
America is such a great country, such a strong country, and here they are celebrating a few dumb trees at the site.
You know how nature abhors a vaccum? Well, that's what there is in America now, a spiritual and physical vaccum at Ground Zero. And Islam and sharia are just thrilled to bits to be able to fill it in.
For such a great country, for such an awe-inspiring society, the lack of new, better, more glorious skyscrapers in downtown Manhattan makes America seem weak.
Every day that goes by with their absence in the skyline is an additional, not-so-subtle reminder of the staggeringly disproportional power of those who brought them down.
No wonder they feel entitled to their victory mosque.
We have created both the physical conditions and the liberal, guilt-ridden, morally inept and inverse philosophical and intellectual climate for a Ground Zero Mosque to rise and prosper in place-it appears-and not in addition-to new skyscrapers.

The multiple gunshots killed him. There was no hope. I remember my father telling me on the phone: you must prepare yourself that he is going to die. And even though I knew it, I couldn't believe it was happening. There was the shiva for a young father, the streams of people through the family home, the prayers, the emptiness, the orphans, the widow, the bereaved parents and siblings. The disbelief.
We Jews have our own state, but we are still the hunted. Those who are not bold enough to kill us with their own hands, bodies and weapons support the murderers financially, philosophically and morally.
They are all on the same team.
Here's a journalist bemoaning the fact that the Israeli security well has worked so well-in other words, it's a real pity that Israelis aren't being killed by terrorists with the previous frequency.
See what I mean? They may not pull the trigger, but their spirits are lined up with the gunmen, the suicide bomber-it's a collective operation.
