Daniel Hanan is a dude, but the answer is easy. The left doesn't have to listen to anyone. They make up the rules, change the rules and move the goal posts all the time.
Lefty has no need for facts, consistency or honour.
Lefty goes with the flow, and is a 'do as I say, not as I do' kind of person.
