Ear Batteries, Steyngasms and Being a Working Mom
Would love to post some stuff, but I'm a little short on sleep and just got back from the emergency room with one kid who had to have something removed from an ear. We thought it was a battery (I know, don't ask-it's incredible apparently what kids manage to stuff up their noses and into their ears, and into the noses and ears of their friends).
Batteries in ears are really not great-and require emergency removal, so fortunately-it was not a (hearing aid) battery, but rather an ear tube from almost a decade ago.
The past few nights, similar to the rest of my life since my first pregnancy, have been combinations of high fevers, puke, eye infections and other strange childhood infections that have no particular epicenter but require faux banana smelling antibiotics.
The good news is that the kids don't have a clue how sick they were, how tired we are or how freaked out they made us.
The other really good news is that I just got my copy of Steyn's "After America" yesterday and I am soooooooooooooooooooooo excited.
Between chortling over the book itself and the hour long show yesterday, it's basically been a veritable Steyngasm!
If you don't have your copy, get 'em while they're hot. Hot? IS IT HOT IN HERE????
But, I digress.
I have to get some real life things done and will try to post stuff later.
UPDATE: I'm listening to the Steyn interview on The Source (again-fine, so sue me, I'm an addict). Anyway, listen closely. One of the best points that Mark is making is that he is not scared of arguments-as liberals are. He is egging on Warren Kinsella (ha haahhahaha) in this piece, and says that he is more scared of government mandarins trying to legislate people into niceness.
I think that the point can be thus expanded, as per Mark Steyn: none of us should be scared of arguments.
The scariest thing in a 'democracy' is actually where there are no arguments allowed. The moment conversation, disputing opinions and political dissent is disallowed (jokes outlawed, speech codified)-those are moments that reflect a slow, but sure descent into totalitarianism.
Part of fighting this fight is having the arguments-refusing to shut up and refusing to agree that "the science is settled" or any such nonsense.
Every step into "no arguments allowed" must be fought tooth and nail.

Toronto Police Officers Pretty Hip to Sharia
I heard Menzies talking about this episode on the radio this morning.
There should be audio of the interview from John Oakley's show later today (hopefully).
Basically, Toronto police officers have transformed into sharia enforcement squads.
To recap-a Toronto man gets whacked by a Muslim woman, and then surrounded by a gang of belligerent Muslims swearing at him in Arabic, and the Toronto police officer pretty much sides with the body-bagged babe.
Infidels must not take pictures of Muslimas-and now that apparently is enshrined in Canadian law or something.
The problem really is that we are so "used to" this, and that none of our institutions-police, judiciary, educational systems, etc.. can be shamed-they are pro-sharia. What can we do about dhimmi morons who feel happy that they are "keeping the peace" by "accommodating" sharia?
I really don't know. There was an assault in downtown Toronto and a police officer defers to a body bagged, bedraggled, brainwashed bimbo and her assault force.
We're screwed.

TSA To Get New "Israeli" Security Program
My only question at this point in time is: are they going to be hunky Israelis running the program, and if not-why should I care?
You know those ones at the airport, with the short jackets and the short or buzz-cut hair and that rather large packages-err...that is to say those large bulges AT THE BACK of their jackets.

The program cost is $1 BILLION. Yes, that's right-estimated at $1 BILLION annually. So, here's what you get:

The New Approach for the Victory Mosque
We are approaching the 10th anniversary of the 9/11 terrorist attacks.
The uppity infidels of the world, and the particularly uppity kufars of New York and the rest of America reacted with disdain at the plans for the Grand Victory Mosque of Ground Zero.
The developers went into a quiet phase. It's a better time now, in general for the Ground Zero Mosque plans because there is a much more friendly administration in place and of course-New York City has a moonbat Jewish liberal mayor who helpfully has added "Shalom Aleikum" to American political discourse.
The New York Times supportive as always, chronicles the "New Quiet Effort for Big Islamic Center" (not a mosque or anything like that).
A new strategy is in place: "a slower, more deliberate and more realistic approach to the project, acknowledging it will take years of hard work to determine what kind of facilities Muslim and non-Muslim visitors want and need, to raise money, and to build public support."
What does that really mean? It means baby-steps will need to be taken to desensitize critics, to disarm them and to camouflage the mosque element with other faux "community" services to infidels.
One thing that is not in question, he said, is the center’s location.
Infidels will just have to get over it!

A Brief Review
I was asked by Random House if I wanted a copy of Margaret Hoover’s “American Individualism: How a New Generation of Conservatives Can Save the Republican Party”.
So, I thought to myself-sure, sounds pretty interesting and ambitious. Margaret has a really nice picture of herself on the cover of the book and she’s very pretty!
She is also the great-granddaughter of the late US president Herbert Hoover. This becomes an important theme in the book, because Hoover once wrote a pamphlet called “American Individualism”-so it’s all cool and groovy and related. Here are some thoughts on the book:
1. Margaret Hoover is the late Herbert Hoover’s great grand-daughter. Isn’t that SO COOL? And she’s a pretty Republican, with a big heart for gays, gay marriage and she’s not one of those yucky conservatives who oppose abortion (more on that later).
2. Margaret Hoover thinks that the young adults who voted in droves for Obama are an AWESOME PRIME TARGET for the Republican party. Republicans just have to totally chillax about gays, OK and gay marriage (she has friends who are gay, and her friend from school had a gay Dad, OK???). Also, she knows someone who had an abortion and someone who had a baby as a teen mom. This means she knows ALL ABOUT the abortion debate!! Yucky Republicans still insist on having opinions about abortion instead of just going with the flow.
3. Did I mention that she is the great-granddaughter of President Hoover??? Can you believe it!?!?!?
4. Despite understanding on some level that the American public education system is broken, and that American colleges are equal bastions of left-wing brainwashing, Margaret Hoover thinks that all these Marxist-inspired young people, who voted for Obama-are a prime target for the Republican party! KEWL!!!!
5. Margaret Hoover is the great-granddaughter of the late US president Hoover. Is that amazing or what?????
6. Herbert Hoover has been greatly maligned by the left! You know how she knows? (Hint: Margaret H-O-O-V-E-R).
7. Stupid President Bush and his anti-gay marriage stuff really screwed up attitudes toward Republicans! Gays and gay marriages are like the ultimate expression of American Individualism! You know how she knows? Hint: she has gay friends and her school friend had a gay Dad.
8. Margaret Hoover quotes Meghan McCain as an authoritative Republican voice on politics-SEVERAL TIMES!??!
9. Did you know that Meghan McCain is John McCain’s daughter? She is also blonde and pretty and has big boobies! I think she is also TOTALLY cool with gays and gay marriage and is not one of those icky “CONSERVATIVE” Republican bible-thumper Crusaders or whatever. I know I am not very bright, but are you sensing any theme here? Any pattern?!??!
10. Lastly, and perhaps most centrally, Margaret Hoover is the great-granddaughter of the late US president Herbert Hoover!
