$10 Million Dollar Man Maher Arar Urges Journalists to Learn From His Experience.
This guy and his wife are now Canadian celebrities.
Here's what I learned from this episode. The government spent $15 million on the inquiry and paid Mr. Arar $10 million dollars as an apology. I learned that our stupid government obviously has (OUR) money to burn, and that these nice, diverse immigrants will never have to work a day again in their lives-courtesy of you and me and our hard-earned tax dollars. It actually makes me sick.
Looks like a really balanced panel, too:
Arar and Mazigh were joined on the panel by CBC Radio journalist Evan Dyer, who covered the Arar case, Citizen executive editor Graham Green and Carleton University instructor Faiza Hirji, whose research includes communications issues related to Muslims. The panel was moderated by Carleton journalism professor and former Globe and Mail correspondent Jeff Sallot. A question-and-answer session followed.
