Hitchens: What Happened to the Suicide Bombers of Jerusalem?
Here's Hitchens speaking about the noticeable decline in suicide bombings in Jerusalem (and in most of Israel for that matter). I like some of his phrasing like:"Nasty, vicious, fanatical old men, not human emotions, were making the decisions and deciding the days and the hours of death. And the hysterical ululating street celebrations when such a mission was successful did not signify despair at all but a creepy form of religious exaltation in which relatives were encouraged to make a feast out of the death of their own children as well as those of other people. ""To have added the promise of paradise to this pogrom is to have made spiritual and mental sickness complete; to have made it a sexual paradise is obscene into the bargain. (Women martyrs are obviously not offered the same level of bliss and promiscuity by the Quran.)"I believe that it is a combination of increased Israeli security at cafes and malls, combined with better Israeli intelligence and a willingness to kill the bastards and their handlers that has created the decline. The desire, of course, to continue spilling and drinking Jewish blood in particular and infidel blood in general has not been mitigated, but just has metastasized into more receptive socio-cultural global political activism against the Jewish state.

The security fence is the reason that suicide bombings has pretty much disappeared in Israel.
Hitchens is a bright guy but like most Brits has a not very friendly view of Israel.
He's got a serious issue with himself it seems to me.
