More Good Brain Food From Scaramouche

Another nice bit to chomp on.

As I get older, my views have been shifting to the idea that there is no such thing as a "moderate" Muslim. There are apostates and there are ex-Muslims, but I do not think it is possible to remain a believer and reconcile modern living with a divorce from the precepts of the Koran.

The "moderates" that are propped up in the media-when push comes to shove, continue to have a dangerously sentimental view/relationship with the prophet of Islam-Mohammad-as we have seen with the recent kerfuffle between Tarek Fatah and Dr. Wafa Sultan.

If you believe that Mohammad was the perfect man, and a prophet and if you believe that the Koran is divine, then you are a believer. And if you believe every word in the Koran is the truth, and the way, then you have not divorced-or you cannot divorce yourself from the violence and the views of infidels that the Koran presents its followers, and the glorification of violence that is inherent in the book.

That is why I am not convinced that there can be a reformation in Islam, not even after 500 years-as Dr. Daniel Pipes recently suggested in his debate with Dr. Wafa Sultan.

Wafa quotes hadiths and not the Quran. She can't attack the Quran so she relies on hadiths that were compiled centuries after Muahmmad died. There is no violence in the Koran. Thats a myth.

All they quote from the Quran is probably verse 9-5 but never the verses before it or after it. Hadiths represents Sunni Islam and not the Quran.

Quran is peace!
