"Nobody Gets Married Any More, Mistah..."

The heartbreaking story of the break up of the family, and the way in which single mothers are no longer ostracized, but rather canonized.

Do you live with your children?

Perhaps one of the most awful questions I've read in print in a long time.

The article was indeed sad, but very true. In a previous avatar, I taught in an inner-city school in Miami, Florida, during the 1987-88 schoolyear. The social pathologies that Mr. Garibaldi writes about were already firmly rooted by that time. Like Mr. Garibaldi, I was initially horrified beyond words by the sexual abuse of young teenaged girls by the mothers' boyfriends (and with the mothers' indifference or connivance). The boys were also often exploited by the mothers' boyfriends, most often to transact illegal drug deals set up by the latter, so that the kids took all the risks involved, physical and legal (again, with the mothers' connivance or indifference). My experiences at that high school literally made me sick to my stomach more than once.

The leftist intelligentsia of the U. S. will have much to answer for to future generations--and to God--but among the most grievous offenses in the bill of indictment will be the destruction of the black family during the 1960s.
