Obama's Selective Anger

The "paradigm" in which Obama--and the Leftist intelligentsia in general-- frames the Israeli-Palestinian conflict is that of U. S. racial politics: The Palestinians play the role of the (axiomatically) virtuous "people of color," whereas the Israelis are cast as the (also axiomatically) evil "honkies," regardless of any objective evidence to the contrary.

In this world view, the hapless Fogels, as part of the designated oppressor class--again, the honkies--were not the real victims of the atrocity; their murderers, by virtue of belonging to the designated oppressed class, are the real victims, driven by Zionist imperialism to strike out, in a sort of symbolic _cri de coeur_, against their oppressors in the only way available to them, through terrorism against the weak underbelly of the oppressor, i.e., his civilian population. To the extent that the Fogels have a claim for justice, it is against the Israeli governing class, which is ultimately responsible for the structural injustice that provokes Palestinians to act as they do.
