The Abuse of the Disabled

In the UK, a father fights for a year to take his autistic son home.

Did you get that?

This case is so depraved and so disgusting that I am shaking.

Talk about an abuse of government powers. Talk about an abuse of a young disabled man who only wanted to be with his father who loved him and was willing to care for him.

This terrifies me.

And by the way, don't think that this can just happen to disabled kids who can't speak. It can happen to anyone. With little more than a phone call, the 'helpy' people can have your kids taken away.

Outrageous and horrifying.

What used to be the norm for children with disabilities.

Heartache.

People who abuse the disabled are the scum of the earth.

And the judge who let these thugs off with a slap on the wrist should be thrown off the bench.

Disgrace.

Tormeting the Disabled

There are few people I loathe more than those who torment the disabled.

These cowards only pick on kids and adults who are unable to defend themselves physically or mentally.

I'm not sure suing anyone post-facto is the answer.

I think what is needed is a more preventative approach, less head-in-the-sand about how even children with cognitive disabilities can be hurt and frightened when their schoolmates terrorize them.

And some understanding about what it does to a parent mentally when they imagine their child being tormented at school and nobody seems to care.

I just saw this article-and apparently this school has been the subject of investigations before. This is horrifying.

Google Executives Convicted for Keeping Video of Down Syndrome Boy Being Beaten On Line

Google executives are not responsible for the criminal and abusive behaviour of these Italian SOBS.

They were cooperative and the footage actually helped in the investigation.

I am split on this story. On the one hand, seeing the footage enabled the arrests and prosecution. On the other hand, I'm not sure how I would feel if footage of my own child being beaten were a permanent part of the blogosphere.

There really is no privacy nowadays. These are unchartered waters.
