Good Thing There is Gay Marriage

Breaking news.

About 150,000 gay couples in the US claim to be "married".

I'm not very bright, so someone help me with the statistic.

There are about 360 million people in the United States, yes? So, all the political agitation, all the crocodile tears about equal rights and stuff, and 150, 000 couples are the beneficiaries? What is this really about?

This doesn't surprise me at all actually.

In my opinion, the gay community has too much time on its hands for political activism with little relationship to reality. There have been less than 9,000 gay unions in a country how big? I believe that most people have no problem with a 'civil union' of some sort, whereby gay couples can legally establish a partnership. However, the concept of gay marriage was meant just to destroy the traditional Judeo-Christian concept of marriage, and eventually the concept of monogamy as well. And if those concepts are busted-who is to say that people can't marry their iPods or cats?

If the gay community was SO SO SO into getting married, then why aren't there more gay married couples? Why aren't we seeing a flood of gay couples rushing to get married?

Could it be that they are actually not interested in getting married? Could it be that those communities have, at least, subconsciously recognized that they have tendencies toward multiple partners that generally preclude the concept of matrimonial monogamy?

I think the figures speak for themselves. The numbers in Canada are similar.
