So I just finished reading Mark Steyn’s Lights Out: Islam, Free Speech and the Twilight of the West. Reading anything by Steyn is the second most fun you can have by yourself. This book is essential reading for the Islamophobic, hatemongering Westerner among us-but more importantly for those who think otherwise. If you have even the slightest concern about free speech, the sharia creep into our society and the West’s increasingly stealth suicide march off a caliphate cliff, you need to read this book.

-Christian culturecide is a terrible thing to witness, and as Steyn notes, few in the West seem to be bothered or even aware that they are experiencing it in real time.My favourite essay in the collection is The Bombay Massacres: Who’s vulnerable? It’s simply a masterpiece and shows that while the leftist-jihadist collective can fool much of the world with its propaganda, there are righteous and courageous individuals like Mark Steyn who call it like it is. In my second favourite essay, Gaza West, he aptly describes the Palestinian “culture” (and “Islamist” culture by extension) as one that’s chief success is “marinating their infants in a sick death cult in which martyrdom in the course of Jew-killing is the greatest goal to which a citizen can aspire”. Have you ever heard it put better than that?
There are those who have given their lives protecting our freedom (a number of striking examples are given in the book), and Steyn says that the least he can do is stand up to the bullying and Jew-hating creeps such as Mohammad Elmasry and the various monstrosities known as Ontario and Canadian Human Rights Commissions. He rightly notes that currently, “Jew-hating isn’t the problem, only certain types of Jew-haters…The Fuhrer isn’t coming out of retirement and, even if he does, there aren’t enough Jews left in Europe to man a decent genocide". Then he spells it out: what other than Hitler is our society prepared to make a moral judgement over? “Where,” he asks, “is our ideological offensive”. Good question.
There are lots of laughs and insights and the usual, predictable collection of fantastic turns of phrase that only Steyn could invent. I wonder if he ever sits in his own living room, in all his hateful glory, rubbing his hands together saying: damn-that was funny. But, I digress.....The main message is that this battle is about left and right, it’s about “free/not free” and is a call to action. We all need to do something, and that’s why I’m in the ring, too. I have to be able to look my kids in the eye when they ask me: Mommy-you knew what was happening, so what did you do about it?

Palestinian culture is not as bloodthirsty as people make it out to be. There are certainly many people in the territories who sympathize with the terrorists although they are not hostile people collectively out to kill jews. Even Israelis know that... it's the right-wing polemecists in the west that depict them in that light. Furthermore quite of number of them are christians.
Islam is a problem, but not so much because it challenges free speech or western liberal ideology, but more rather because it incites violence against unbelievers and blasphemes against the Son of God. The only way the west will be able to stand up to this is if it returns to its christian roots and builds its house on the rock of Jesus, and not on the sands of western liberal tradition.

You cannot fool me David. How can you be an apologist for such vile fruits?
David Murdoch, you are totally naive and yes, Palestinian culture is the sickest, most bloodthirsty dehumanized culture in human history, rivalling the Nazis. Except not even the Nazis did suicide bombings using their own children as the explosive matters. You are sick, too if you excuse them.
I think the proof of how degraded and degrading Palestinian culture is lies in both what they do and don't do.
Firstly, they indoctrinate their children from toddlerhood in hatred toward Jews using warped Sesame and Disney type characters to do so. Instead of teaching numbers and letters though, the kids are taught the joys of martyrdom. Mr. Murdoch should have a look at the copious material available on You Tube and elsewhere on the Internet of two year olds dressed in camo with crossed bullet bandoliers hoisted on their fathers' shoulders at their weekly Orwellian "hate" sessions.
Omitting Israel from school age children's textbooks drives home the goal, eventual obliteration of the Jew in Israel as has already been accomplished in every other Mid-Eastern country. Finally, hen a Palestinian teenager succeeds in blowing himself up with Jewish women and children, the parents of the suicide bomber hand out candy in celebration, are honored by their peers, and assured by their religious authorities that they now have an express ticket to Islamic heaven through their child's martyrdom.
But let's look at the dog that doesn't bark. What have the Palestinians built? If there is a significant proportion who are not destructive, why are they not beavering in the long breaks between hostilities building the institutions of civil society like hospitals? Why did they not continue the thriving greenhouse business they were gifted by American donors when Israelis left Gaza? Instead they reduced the donated greenhouses to rubble. There was no faction vociferously objecting because no one was interested in doing the work of running them.
Mr. Murdoch cannot point to either the will or action toward constructive pursuits among Palestinians. They believe and act as though destroying Jews is the greatest gift they can give their own children, even at the cost of those children's lives on earth.
Mr. Murdoch has no evidence for his benign view, just the inability to imagine a people and culture so foreign to his ideas of humanity.
This inability to face facts and the constant elevation of foreign cultures by multiculturalists who never bother to research the cultures they are promoting will be the death of the West.
