Orwell Revisited

This is a good one from the NRO.

Nothing beats reading the original Orwell, but this riffs on the familiar themes.

Unfortunately, Mr. Falcoff, this particular essay is given a similar treatment at least once a year by someone.

It's a relevant piece, but if Mr. Falcoff really wanted to make some points about just why political speech and processes are corrupted (and who does it), and also spotlight Orwell, he could have chosen other, and better essays, on the topic.

Here's a short list (I believe a relevant one, as well) from my own Orwell collection:

"Review of: The Machievellians By James Burnham" (1943)

I recommend them all to your readers, C-in-C. If they can't find them online, then the Everyman Library has compiled many of them into an Orwell Anthology (George Orwell: Essays), which also contains much of his newpaper reportage.
