Who should we root for? The gay business owner with the allergies? Or the blind man with the guide dog? It's pathetic that our taxes are being wasted over these idiotic battles. This case smells like a shake-down to me, too.

Both parties lose money, lose weight and lose sleep. But you know who wins for sure? The lawyers-they always get paid, and the bureaucrats at the Ontario Human Rights Commission. They will still have their cushy, totalitarian jobs thanks to disputes such as these.

Barbara Hall: OHRC To Get More Staff To Work on Educating People on What Is Best For Them

In an incredibly creepy article in the Toronto Sun today, Ontario Chief Human Rights Commissar and moonbat extraordinnaire Barbara Hall lays out her vision of totalitarianism quite clearly.

"No longer tied down investigating complaints, Ontario's Human Rights Commission is now better able to build "a culture of human rights" through targeted inquiries and public education, Chief Commissioner Barbara Hall said yesterday. "

That is shudder number one. It should say that they are no longer JUST "investigating" complaints-they still do that. Now, the entire re-moulding of Ontario's civic culture is the grand undertaking by the Marxist lunatics of the OHRC. Social engineering is their clear goal. There will be no more individual thoughts or rights-you will bend to the "culture of human rights" and we all know what that means: bullying you into submission, and stripping you of your freedom of conscience and other Charter guaranteed freedoms.

Here's the kicker: " The public education role will also be beefed up, she said.

"In the past we had one staff person for the whole of Ontario that did public education," Hall said. "Now we will have more and we'll have the capacity to work with communities on the education that is the best for them."

There it is-laid out right in front of you. "We" will work to indoctrinate you and force you into "on the education that is best for them".

Don't say you weren't warned.

There will be very few issues of personal choice that will not be under the watchful eyes of the CHRC and the OHRC. We will see increasing assaults on personal freedom and my prediction is that they will be mostly related to child-rearing philosophy, and health-care issues. These are scary times for personal liberty in Ontario.

Ontario Looking to Feds for Guidance On Human Right To Smoke Doobies

The bungling government of Ontario, with it's Chief Moonbat "Human Rights" Commissar Barbara Hall, is looking to the federal government to provide guidance on the apparent "human rights" conflict that is smoking "medical" mary-jane at private bars/restaurants.

It is absolutely astounding that nobody has the balls to say to these people: smoke it at home. What is so difficult about that? How much more clear could it possibly be?

This is the pathetic level to which "human rights" legislation stoops. The moonbat masses are so busy making work for themselves that they make a mockery of real human rights-like the right of free conscience, free speech, freedom of thought and opinion-and dare I say-the right to life?

My better half calls these "rich people's problems". Here in Canada we are so spoiled-we have so much that we forget that there are people elsewhere in the world with existential 'human rights' to worry about.

Jennifer Lynch: Dellusional, Desperate Censor

Did you all get a chance to read Canada's Censor In Chief's latest missive in the National Post?

Poor Jennifer! You really did not get your money's worth out of the expensive PR consultations that you have been dinging the taxpayers with over the past months. If you had selected expert 'fart catchers', they surely would have told you that there are some times when you just have to help yourself to a steaming hot cup of STFU and not make it worse.

Jennifer is really not bothered that some of her investigators hacked into a private citizen's internet connection in order to throw out fishing lines of overt racist comments to snag a few borderline 'neo-Nazis' living in their parents basement in Kakkapeee, Alberta.

Her Highness says "The Canadian Human Rights Commission considers this matter closed."

Not all Canadians think this is a closed matter. It is absolutely terrifying that a civil servant can hack into a private citizens internet connection, and face no punishment whatsoever. Police officers do not have such powers. The CHRC 'invesigators' have powers that are simply unimaginable and unacceptable in a democracy.

She is absolutely insane to say this in writing: "In some investigations, postings were made, but this has never included the posting of hateful or derogatory messages, nor would the commission condone such a practice if it occurred."

It has been very well documented by Ezra Levant, Mark Steyn, Kathy Shaidle, Blazing Catfur, scaramouche, and many other Canadian bloggers that the CHRC have engaged in this practice quite regularly. It appears to be not only tolerated but encouraged and rewarded.

Is Jennifer Lynch so deeply entrenched in a multicult, totalitarian mindset that she cannot realize how preposterous her letters are? How much abuse of power does she expect Canadians to continue to swallow as their civil rights continue to be eroded by disgusting, power-drunk bean-counter leftist bureaucrats with shameless powers and privilege?

And where is Prime Minister Stephen Harper on all of this?

For a Canadian PM who has araticulated such clear moral convictions on matters such as the nascent democratic movement in Iran, Israel and good US-Canada relations-I for one-am disappointed that he has not put forth any suggestion as to how to actually stop the Canadian Human Rights industry (its provincial and federal incarnations) from further encroaching on our fundamental, Charter-guaranteed freedoms such as freedom of expression and thought.

The continued attempts by Jennifer Lynch to whitewash the despicable practices of her organization are an insult not just to our intelligence, but to the dignity and individual liberty of all Canadians and all freedom-loving people.

The Harper government's continued silence on this issue is at best, pathetic and at worst a clear sign to all Canadians, and to the rest of the Western world that we must expect many more equally egregious assaults on our civil liberties and individual freedom in the months and years to come. The attacks will have many different lovely names and lofty, utopian goals but the resulting tyranny will be one-size-fits all.

"Abused women living in a YWCA facility in North Toronto say they've been forced to share showers with transsexual tenants and cope with frequent, violent behaviour from others living there. Residents in the four-storey residence and shelter for victims of domestic abuse told the Sun repeated complaints about physical assault, harassment and verbal abuse have been downplayed, if not outright ignored by the YWCA. "

"The building is supposed to be women-only, but tenants say that there are often men who sneak in through a back door and stay overnight. Tenants also complain women living in the shelters often have to bathe in the communal showers with transsexuals. It's a situation the women say makes them highly uncomfortable and has led to conflict."

"(A transsexual) threatened one of the women from the 4th floor and when she went and complained to staff, they said she had to be patient with him because he's going through a sex change," a tenant said. "This person was massaging this Muslim woman's back and then when she found out this person was a man, she was upset. There is no disclosure."

This is one of those cases where Barbara Hall may really, really not know who to root for. So, Barbara, who is it gonna be? Whose 'rights' triumph here? The abused Muslim woman's right to not be massaged by a transsexual, or the tranny's 'rights' to be at a shelter for abused women?

"The YWCA insists the organization follows a non-discrimination policy outlined in the city's Shelter Standards, but said "this is made clear upon intake to everyone, also as part of a non-discrimination policy," said YWCA acting CEO Sally Palmateer. "

Very Good News: Canadian Constitutional Foundation to Help Gym Owner Fight Human Rights Complaint

You'll remember the story of John Fulton from St. Catherines, who had a "lady with junk" as they say, try to get into the women's change room at the health club. Looks like the Canadian Constitutional Foundation is stepping up and helping Mr. Fulton fight the outrageous OHR complain against him:

"The Canadian Constitution Foundation is a non-profit organization that protects constitutional freedoms through education and public interest litigation. It has agreed to help Fulton raise funds for his defence, expected to cost as much as $100,000. "They've basically said they'll help fund this all the way to the Supreme Court if necessary," Fulton said.

The complainant's legal fees are borne by the Ontario Human Rights Commission.

Fulton has owned and operated fitness clubs in the Niagara area since 1982. He said his clubs have supported the Niagara AIDS Walk for Life as a title sponsor for more than 12 years. "This is clearly a David and Goliath case: a small business being prosecuted by the might of the state," lawyer John Carpay, executive director of the Canadian Constitution Foundation, said Tuesday. "This case also involves freedom of association, which is a fundamental charter right enjoyed by all Canadians."

Barbara Hall And the OHRC Goes to Bat for Sharia-Again.

Here's a bit more about the niqab case currently in the courts. "Also present at yesterday's hearing was Prabhu Rajan, attorney for the Ontario Human Rights Commission, seeking intervenor status for his organization. Mr. Rajan advised Judge Marrocco that the OHRC has substantial experience in dealing with conflicting rights, and that its "unique perspective" could prove useful. He also argued that the woman should be allowed to wear her veil because it's a sincere, deeply felt, personal belief; a way she connects with God. "

Ontario Human Rights Commission Rejects Complaint Against Syd Ryan: Complainants Were Christian, Not Jewish

The Closet Conservative received this little bit of news and was told to spread it around. Kudos to Rob Cheshire, Ron Verhooeckx and Matt Ford for their efforts. Right-thinking people do not use the left's tactics of Human Rights complaints to silence and intimidate their intellectual opponents. These Canadians are just showing, through their complaint, the hypocrisy and Orwellian nature of the "human rights" racket. I am sure that if three Jews filed the same complaint, it would be rejected as well.

"On January 5th 2009, Sid Ryan of CUPE was quoted and headlined in many newspapers boycotting Israeli and Jewish academics on Canadian University campuses. This was in direct response to Israel and the IDF launching a counter offensive into Gaza with infantry and armour after four weeks of rocket attacks from Hamas, repeated warnings and the breaking of a truce. Israel had and has a right to defend itself against aggression especially when the attacks were unprovoked and launched against civilian targets, and therefore of a terrorist nature.

On January 5th Matt Ford, Ron Verhooeckx and Myself ( Rob Cheshire ) filed complaint with the Ontario Human Rights Tribunal against Mr. Sid Ryan for his anti-Semitic remarks and posturing. This indeed was not the first or even the second time that Mr. Ryan has made such remarks against Israel or the Jewish people. He has never condemned any other state besides Israel calling it an Apartheid State, in 2007. In 2006, Ryan called for the divestment of Israel and endorsed a global boycott of Israel, Israeli trade and goods. While Ryan rants at Israel for defending its sovereign nation and borders, he said nothing of Hamas or Hezbollah and their unprovoked rocket attacks at civilians. And it may be said that Mr. Ryan's comments incited protests of support for groups like Hamas which are outlawed here in Canada. In min January, supporters of Sid Ryan gathered at the CUPE building (Toronto)and a small group of counter protesters gathered across the street, some carrying Israeli flags.

The pro Ryan supporters chanted unrepentantly, "Die Jew Die!". I met with some of these pro-Israel supporters and they actually feared for their lives that day. The Toronto Police Services could not contain the aggressive Hamas, Hezbollah and Ryan supports, and the pro-Israel group was angrily chased from their position. On Thrusday February 19th and Sunday the 22nd while CUPE met in Windsor at the Hilton to confer on resolutions, the Jewish Defence League under the direction of Meir Weinstein staged a pro-Israel rally across the street from the Hilton Hotel on Riverside Drive West here in Windsor. We braved the cold and wind with a crowd of 120, many of which were bussed in from Toronto. I met the buses at an undisclosed location at 4:00AM, and we hit the streets of Windsor at 8:00AM until 1:00PM. During the rally a man driving a black sports car with a Palestinian flag protruding through the sun roof attempted to run us down, and was detained by Windsor Police Service. There were other unpleasantries, with minor verbal exchanges and some threats from the Ryan supporters. But of course this is what the leftists do is hide behind masks and utter threats against a rally for free speech and the right for nationhood.

Unfortunately, resolution 50 was passed by CUPE. This resolution censors free thought, intellectualism and exchanges at Universities, is biased and anti-Semitic. Not all of CUPE was in favour of the resolution, Windsor president, Aldo DiCarlo condemned Ryan's actions as: "Just Wrong!" and called for his resignation. I applaud Mr. Di Carlo, for his brave stance, under great political pressure. Our complaint against Mr. Ryan was returned to us on March 17th, stating that our complaint had no merit since we complainants were Christians and not Jews, and therefore not from the targeted group of hate. We feel that any affront to any Canadian is an affront to all, and allowing anti-Semitism to gain momentum is much the same tactic, as that which transpired in Germany during the 1930's. Anti-Semitism whether voiced by the likes of Sid Ryan or others, needs to be condemned and silenced for what it is, hatred against Jews. I have noticed an increase in Anti-Semitism and biased talk against the Jewish people of late.

Canada cannot remain free if this type of behaviour is tolerated. The Ontario Human Rights Commission in rejecting our complaint helps feed the idea that this type of lip speak is acceptable, and condemns hatred and hate speech. I invite all Canadians to lift their voices against such and the likes of Mr. Ryan.

The Ontario Human Right To "Hang" in the Women's Change Room Even Though You Still Have Male Parts

More serious Human Rights concerns at the Ontario Human Rights Commission! This case has been dragging along for two years. A guy, dressed as a chick walks into a health club to get a membership in the women's-only part of the club. Just before signing the contract, he says to the owner, hey-I'm a dude! I'm planning to be a chick, but I still have my equipment. Club owner says-I think my female patrons would have a problem with that (YA THINK?), checks with police and OHRC but eventually gets sucked into black hole mind-numbing, expensive, process-is-the-punishment Orwellian vortex of OHRC hell. The hearing is today. What is so complicated about this idea: NOBODY with a male sex organ gets into the women's' change room. I don't care if you are 4 months, 4 days or 4 hours away from the snip-if you have something hanging between your legs (naturally of course, not purchased) YOU ARE A DUDE. I feel sorry for the club owner. Apparently he has sponsored the AIDS walk in St. Catherines for years and is a really liberal guy. What a pathetic province and an even more pathetic system.

I Smell a Human Rights Complaint Brewing

So, Kathy Shaidle noticed this article and she is all over the peanut allergy hysteria. My question is, what would happen if the peanut allergy child and her dog wanted to take a taxi, and an observant Muslim driver refused to take them in the car. Who would Barbara Hall side with? Or, let's say the child had a Jewish or Bahai transgendered parent who had just gone on a bender in a bar, and asked the driver to please stop at the Beer Store to pick up a six pack before heaing home with the allergic child? Who would Barbara Hall root for then? Barbara? Barbara?

Steyn: Happy Warrior and Major Mensch

So, I was one of the free speech groupie "butt plugs" who went to hear Mark Steyn at the Ontario Legislature. There has already been excellent and thorough coverage of the presentation by some of Canada's most fantastic bloggers-and a round up can be found at SteynOnLine. So, I would just like to add a few modest observations about the afternoon and the after-party. I really hope that the panelists digested Mark's observation that Ontario is promoting a system of judgement where the verdict is both assumed to be guilty always, and simultaneously irrelevant. As he rightly pointed out, the entire process is the punishment. In addition to the totalitarian ability to silence people's free thoughts-one of the only naturally G-d given rights we have, the process can crush innocent people financially and spiritualy. Everything goes back to individual rights, individual property rights and the power of freedom which is vested in our individual thoughts. Group rights must never trump this right. Mark emphatically stated that if you don't believe in free speech for the people you loathe, then you don't really believe in free speech at all. It's that simple. He suggested that if "Kommisar Hall" wants to persecute people for their beliefs, she should do it on her own dime. That uppity Steyn also had the nerve to suggest that the burden of proof be on the accuser! He questioned the integrity of the OHRC, noting that for people supposedly interested in "hate speech" and hurt speech, they didn't seem particularly interested when a raging, frothing crowd of keffiyeh-wearing Muslims called for a new and improved genocide against Jews in downtown Toronto. That had to hurt. Where was the OHRC when a man, of no particular race, religion or creed, was calling for the beheading of a Canadian government official? Crickets... One of the funniest parts of Mark's presentation was the way in which he continually refered to Barbara Hall as "Komissar Hall". I don't even think the pannelists actually caught the reference, they didn't flinch actually, but it was really hilarious. I am delighted that it will be transcribed as such in the official record. Afterwards, Mark hung around and answered some reporters questions. Then, he graciously agreed to go out for a drink with the groupies, and we walked to a nearby pub on an unusually mild and sunny February day. He was entertaining and inquisitive, and knew something pretty much about all the people in attendance, from having either read their blogs or their letters to the editor or perhaps letters to him. The conversation easily switched from the demographic time-bomb in Europe, to the perils of shaving goat butts, to the potential popularity of said shaved goats in the Middle East, to the dangers facing the Jews of England and France, the humourless militants lesbian activists we work with to Maclean's and back. He listened to our stories, shared his own insights with us as equals and even insisted on picking up the tab. Mark Steyn is intelligent, hilarious and gracious-a jack of all media trades with a clear handle on the big picture and a solid moral centre. The Jews in particular, and the Western world in general, are lucky to have such a giant on our side. This issue brought together a pretty crazy mix of people...the Indian Canadian, the Jew, the Catholics-the homo and heterosexual fans of Steyn-all because despite our backgrounds-we understand what is at stake. So thanks again Mark, for a really fantastic afternoon and keep up the good fight always.

Barbara Hall and ElMo Agree-Be Afraid...Be Very Afraid

Anyone else feel a slight panic at the thought of a monster bureaucracy, headed by Barbara "Islamophile" Hall, to ensure that all Canadian publications are in step with her soul-crushing, totalitarian, leftist, politically correct, oppressive mind-control wet-dream? I am surprised that there is so little outcry from the organized mainstream media about this. I am even more surprised that other free-spirited communities don't see the implications. First they came for the right wing Islamophobics, then they came for the gay publications, then for the transgendered e-zines, then the Swinger's Annual...
