As a result, the editors have decided that a nationally-read newspaper deserves to be written by students from across the nation. As an Ontario Desk Editor, I am recruiting students who are interested in writing a regular 500 word column. Columns don't just have to be about politics (although they can be) as the Herald also addresses subjects ranging from campus life to culture, finance, sports, health, law, and more."

There Are None As Blind As Those Who Refuse to See

Another day, another Islamic jihadist terrorist attack.

This time in Europe, this time the victims American soldiers.

The gunman shouted some combination of "Allahu Akbar" and/or "jihad, jihad", but the mainstream media and liberals everywhere are still puzzled by the crime!

Apparently, President Obama is working with Germany to 'spare no effort' to make sure that all the perpetrators are brought to justice!

Hey-do you think that means that he is going to make sure that ALL JIHADISTS are brought to justice? Me either. It means that there will be some lip-service investigation and a perp will be found, and flown to America first class, whilst being read his Miranda "rights" and sipping an infidel Coke.

It means that Eric Holder will prepare the best damned criminal case possible against this latest "lone wolf", misunderstander of Islam, who perhaps suffered from oppression, depression or other unspecified mental illness or humiliation at the hands of infidels.

Perhaps Eric Holder will not be interested in prosecuting, as he does not like people picking on his peeps.

I have long stopped being shocked by Islamic barbarity.

What is still shocking to me is President Obama's obtuseness, and what I think is the unavoidable conclusion that though he may not be Muslim, his sympathies lie with Islam.

The President, horrifyingly suggests that these latest murders are a stark reminder of the extraordinary sacrifices made by American servicemen and women.

Excuse me? Since when has there been any expectation that US service men and women 'sacrifice' themselves-and particularly on the alter of deference to Islamic jihad?

How about a bolder statement-in a non-Obama world about how these latest murders are a stark reminder of the evil barbarism we are facing in our jihadist enemies, and that we refuse to submit to sharia and refuse to be dragged back to the 7th century Arabian hell hole that gave birth to Islam.

We refuse to let our lives be governed by sharia. We will continue to live our lives in liberty and equality.

That's what we need to hear.

The Kosovan Foreign Minister is trying to figure out if it was "organized" or not, and what the 'nature' of the attack was.

We have dead Americans. We have cries of "Allahu Akbar" and/or "jihad jihad" and it is still a mystery!

Woe unto us if we still cannot label this war and label our enemies. It's going to be a rough ride-and those who wish to coddle the beast instead of slaying it are only hastening the unprescedented and voluntary societal destruction of the finest system of human governance in world history.

Can Western democracy, based on Judeo-Christian values survive this assault? We cannot defer the war.

The Abuse of the Disabled

In the UK, a father fights for a year to take his autistic son home.

Did you get that?

This case is so depraved and so disgusting that I am shaking.

Talk about an abuse of government powers. Talk about an abuse of a young disabled man who only wanted to be with his father who loved him and was willing to care for him.

This terrifies me.

And by the way, don't think that this can just happen to disabled kids who can't speak. It can happen to anyone. With little more than a phone call, the 'helpy' people can have your kids taken away.
