Globe and Mail Does Hatchet Job on Geert Wilders
Replete with Dracula photo and scary, scary terms like "arch-conservative" (are there ever any "arch" or "radical" liberals?).
Then the writer takes the laziest, most idiotic approach to Mr. Wilders: reducto ad Hitlerum.

You get it? Geert, he's Hitler, and the Muslims-they are the new Jews! HITLER HITLER HITLER!!
Then there is some tripe about Jews as he tries to make the comparison complete, and then the qualifier: "This is not to say Geert Wilders is a Hitler or his followers are all racists. BUT we shouldn't pretend that his core ideas are in any way reasonable, rational, freedom-loving or tolerant."
This is probably one of the most intellectually lazy articles I have read in the Globe this week!

Good News: Growing Numbers of Muslims in Australia Become More Expert at Welfare Exploitation
Hey, celebrate diversity and stuff!
Isn't it wonderful that newcomers to Australia are becoming more sophisticated in an area as complicated as social welfare? It does the heart good.
A few "couples" have been caught scamming the system, but there seems to be a slight problem when the bean counters in charge of the program have a small attitude issue.
Polygamy is illegal in Australia, but a Centrelink spokeswoman said it was not the welfare agency's job to police polygamy laws."
"It's not our concern if they are a member of a polygamist relationship," the spokeswoman said."We look at whether they are receiving the correct rate of payment. We treat each couple independently."
Sweet!
"There's nothing preventing them from being in more than one 'member of a couple' relationship at a time," he said. "In these cases, Centrelink pays each person the relevant income-tested payment at the partnered rate."
"Some Muslim men have married several wives in their country of origin or at local mosques so they are not recognised under Australian law by state-based births, deaths and marriage registries."
You following the logic here? They go "back home" to get some more wives that are not recognized by Australian law, but the Australian welfare system pays the multiple partners welfare payments?
Is welfare not a government program under the law?
But never fear, love conquers all.
"Islamic Friendship Association of Australia president Keysar Trad said he believed "not many more than 50" Muslim families in Australia were polygamist. But he said he also knew of non-Muslim men who had more than one de facto wife who claimed Centrelink payments."
Mr Trad agreed only those who could afford a second wife, without reliance on Centrelink, should marry more than one woman.[ed note: that's cute]

Blood Libel From Iraq Against America?
OK, I read this article and think it's worth discussing.
If there is any actual, clinical evidence that some freaky chemical weapons were used by American troops in Iraq (which I think is about as possible as me becoming the next Pope), then there should be an investigation.
However, the BBC seems to be just spreading a lot of dogsqueeze around:

What is the growing evidence? It is actually not particularly rare for children to be born with a sixth digit on a foot or hand, it's a very minor birth defect which is easily correctable with surgery.
Is it possible that there are alarming numbers of birth defects and deformities and congenital problems because of the obvious, and under-discussed phenomenon in the Arab and Muslims world of consanguinity?
This is a vile rumour to spread without conclusive medical evidence.
